This week Los Mojitos played at a wedding in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The event took place at Hotel Playa Hermosa – Bosque Del Mar.
It’s a great location for a wedding, situated right on the beach at Playa Hermosa. The hotel offers Junior Suites, Garden View Suites, Beach View Suites and Penthouse Suites on the third floor. For weddings and functions there is a beautifully decorated, air conditioned hall where the reception was held. The ceremony was held on the beach just steps away from the hotel.
Los Mojitos played as a duet, featuring Warren Alani on keyboards and Brad Moodie on bass. We played mellow jazzy music for cocktails and then during dinner. Songs included a mix of jazz, swing, pop, reggae, bossa nova and love ballads.
The wedding was for a young couple from The States and there were about thirty guests. The bride had requested Pachelbel’s Canon In D for her entrance so we played that for her. I recorded it with my camcorder.
Hotel Playa Hermosa – Bosque Del Mar is an eco-boutique hotel promoting sustainability. Some of their sustainability practices include their water treatment plant which returns 70% of their water usage to be used for watering plants and for toilets, they use recycled paper, they are involved in a project to help abandoned children, and they have a preventative maintenance programs for electricity and water usage.
The hotel is located in the small town of Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste (there are several beaches in Costa Rica called Playa Hermosa, which means ‘beautiful beach’), which is about a 10 minute drive north of Playas Del Coco and about a 20 minute drive west from Liberia International Airport. If you are coming into Playa Hermosa from the south, turn at the first left beside the Century 21 real estate office. Follow the road down to the beach and you’ll see the hotel and ample parking across the street.
